Bio:

Kyle Hughes became enthralled and enamored with music, ever since joining the Rugare Marimba Ensemble when he was 8 years old.  His twin passions for technology and percussion have driven his career, both separately and combined.  Currently, he is pursuing a Master of Business Administration with a Music Business concentration at Middle Tennessee State University, after working at the University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music as the audio coordinator.

At MTSU, Kyle works as a graduate teaching assistant in the Jones College of Business, where he manages the Mel Adams State Farm Agent Professional Sales Lab. There he helps students gain confidence, fluidity, and proficiency in business-to-business sales meetings. In addition, he helps coordinate an plan events, manage logistics, and organize schedules, which has further diversified his skill set.

            Kyle has seven years experience working in the audio engineering field. His work experience includes working as the audio coordinator of the Lamont School of Music, being one of the pioneering members of the audio internship for Bravo! Vail’s 2016 summer music festival, and independent studio and live concert engineering for groups such as: Atlas Percussion, the Newman Center for the Performing Arts, the Denver Chorale, and trialboom.

            As a performer and composer, Kyle specializes in the creation and performance of new music.  He has received multiple awards for his work including: the Frank Toth Memorial Award, outstanding student recital, and outstanding performance of a student composition from the Lamont School of Music. He is a founding member of two new music groups: H.P.F. Project, who were bronze medalists in the 2017 global music awards for emerging artists, and aKoustic Departure.  His projects and commissions have received support with grants from the Cossack Foundation and The Allied Arts.

Mr. Hughes earned a Bachelor of Music in Sound Recording and Audio Production and a Graduate Performance Certificate in Jazz Percussion Performance from the Lamont School of Music.  Kyle has explored several facets of the music and percussion world, creating a range of skills few have.  He has studied with Tom Miller, AnnMarie Liss, John Kinzie, Tina Gugeler, Mike Marlier, Puck Meeko, RJ Heid, Jacquelin Herbein, and Brian Coiner.  His performance experiences range from Symphonies, modern chamber groups, world music ensembles, and solo recitals.  In addition to his percussion and audio skills, Kyle is a proficient pianist and a beginner western and Chinese harp player.  He brings his wide range of skills and experiences to all of his projects.
